Breaking IG News Released at Convention
Two major announcements pertaining to information governance (IG) were released by AHIMA this week. During General Session on Tuesday, the results of AHIMA’s third IG survey showcased key recommendations for organizations seeking to transform through IG. Conducted with more than
1,500 healthcare professionals, the survey found that 53 percent of respondents said they
have IG practices in place or recognize the need for IG. Also, 14 percent of respondents have
initiated an organization-wide IG program, and 18 percent have IG-related projects under-way. The survey determined recommendations for organizations looking to implement an
IG program. These include: gain executive support; assemble a multidisciplinary group of
stakeholders; and develop an IG roadmap. AHIMA also announced on Tuesday an expanded partnership with Immersive to co-brand and make available at no cost IGHealthRate™,
the industry’s only purpose-built assessment and measurement platform for information
governance adoption and maturity. For more information, visit www.igiq.org.
